From June 16th to 19th, 2025, three researchers from the Chair of Process Automation Systems (PAS) attended the 14th IFAC Symposium on Dynamics and Control of Process Systems, including Biosystems (DYCOPS), held in Bratislava, Slovakia. Organized every three years by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), DYCOPS is one of the key international conferences in the field of process control.
Tobias Brockhoff gave his first conference presentation, sharing results from his ongoing research in collaboration with the Chair of Bioprocess Engineering, based on the work named “Automatic Design of Robust Model Predictive Control of a Bioreactor via Bayesian Optimization” by T. Brockhoff, M. Heinlein, G. Hubmann, S. Lütz, and S. Lucia.
Prof. Sergio Lucia led a workshop titled “Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Anything: Designing Fast, Efficient, and Safe Neural Network Controllers,” developed in collaboration with Prof. Joel Paulson (Ohio State University), Prof. Ali Mesbah (UC Berkeley), and his PhD student Joshua Adamek.
In addition, a joint project with the Control and Cyberphysical Systems group from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund was selected for a keynote talk presented by Prof. Lucia, based on the work “Privacy-Preserving Federated Learning for Robust Approximate MPC” by Joshua Adamek, Janis Adamek, Moritz Schulze Darup, and Sergio Lucia.
